This 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia GL is said to have remained under the care of a single family in Texas until the current owner’s purchase on BaT in January 2025. Steel bumpers, swing-out rear carriers, and Fuchs 16×7″ Mercedes A208 CLK forged wheels were installed in 2024. The fuel system was overhauled, and the alternator and starter motor were replaced at around that time. Finished in Flash Silver Metallic over light gray velour upholstery, the van is powered by a water-cooled 2.1L flat-four fitted with fuel injectors and pushrods sourced from MansiSpeed. Shifting is through a five-speed manual transaxle linked with a Syncro all-wheel-drive system with a locking rear differential, and additional equipment includes a pop-up camper roof, a flat-folding rear bench, a swing-out table, and a kitchenette with a Dometic refrigerator, a stove, and a sink. Anybody can pack the family up in a sprinter van and set off to the nearest KOA camp ground, but real memories are made in an old Volkswagen build to go off the beaten path. This vehicle is so capable and while many people will point to its power, or lack off as its weakness, it has a crawl gear and rear locking differential allowing you to tackle those pesky slopes and boulders as you make your way to a boon-docking spot.
It has all you need. Water, Propane, Fridge and a bed.
This van is just cool and when you're in it, you feel cool. You feel like you are really going somewhere.
